The Amstrad CPC 464 was an 8-bit home computer; ‘CPC’ was an acronym for ‘Color Personal Computer’. The number 4 showed that the machine was a tape version and the 64 the number of memory available. This home computer was also sold with a green monitor. Originally was designed on a 6502 processor but Locomotive Software suggested a Z80 processor. This was a good move since software designed for the Spectrum was easily ported to the CPC 464. Like many home computers at the time, the 464 had a version of the BASIC programming language in ROM. Peripherals such as disk drives and CP/M OS were released but since the drive was a 3-Inch floppy it was very expensive.
